Behold, The Beholder! This figure is “Eye Beast” 77043 from Reaper Miniatures.

I think this model really has the right feel for a 1st edition Dungeons & Dragons beholder. Much more so than the spike, hyper-extreme current offering from WizKids. Not sure why everything has to be made too cool for school. Some D&D monsters are just ridiculous, so you may as well embrace it.

As with most of my models intended for use with Dungeons & Dragons, I sculpted a stone base using epoxy putty. The figure is Reaper “Bones” plastic, and I mounted it to a 40mm round base with some lead fishing sinkers glued underneath, otherwise it’d just tip over from top-heaviness.
