Skeletal War Rhino

This awesome beast was sculpted for Grenadier Models by Andy Chernak in 1987. It’s massive. It weighs 15.2 ounces / 430g, and is mounted on a 50x100mm chariot base.

I painted the parts separately, then assembled and cleaned up any errors from assembly. There’s so much interior detail that painting in sections made sense. Due to the weight, everything was drilled and pinned. The lead was pretty old and brittle, and the neck snapped off at one point. Drills, rods and epoxy to the rescue. Since I painted a Dwarf army for my daughter, I needed an army of my own, so I went with Skeletons.

This monster can proxy as a stand of cavalry. It can stand in as a war machine. Or it can just be a stand-alone monster. Paint scheme was designed to match the rest of the skeletons I’ve painted so far
