Heavy Duty Heavy Weapons

This month sees the realization of a second edition 40k dream of mine.

When creating army lists for my weekly wargaming nights in the 90s, I always wanted to mix up my lists depending on my opponent’s army, or just change things to amuse my friends. What always bothered me was that I would have to proxy models that I didn’t have. In particular, special and heavy weapon models were a bit of a pain to afford (in terms of actual money). This max-sized mob of Ork Nobz bids those days farewell.

I now have a huge assortment of Ork heavy weapons finally painted up. 15 of them to be precise. Now I can swap out the weapons in the mobs to suit my tastes at the moment. Or in true Orky fashion just get looney and field this gigantic points sink Nobz mob! I also managed to paint up 2 bonus models this month (2 orks with flamers). Full disclosure: I absolutely did NOT want to paint them, but I had to. I mean, I’m painting 15 heavy weapon Orks, why would I just ignore those 2 extra guys in the lead pile. This challenge is turning out to be a real slog, but the moment I array each slice for their monthly photo I feel like I can make it one more month.

Blood Axe Nobz Mob: 15 Nobz (15 assorted heavy weapons) 634 points
Bonus models: 2 Ork boys (with flamers) 38 points
Total points: 672
Total models: 17
