Month 2 of the 40k army challenge is finished, and it’s a demonic duo! Presenting the ever-skanky greater daemon of Slaanesh, and a Juggernaut of Khorne ridden by a champion of Khorne.

My models this month practically flew off the table – stress-free and enjoyable. I’ve wanted to paint the Keeper of Secrets for so long, that there was no sitting at the painting desk and staring at the model, trying to decide upon a plan of attack. After all these years pondering, I already knew what I wanted to do. Just a very quick evening of painting the model to match the Keeper in my head. The Juggernaut – Chungus Bloodfart – took a little more reflection to determine the right colors, but was overall a quick task. I painted the champion (Menstruan) in a paler red highlight to make it stand out from the warmer red-to-orange of the Juggernaut. A beefy set of Rogue Trader models to add some variety to the force.

I added unneeded complexity to my life by painting 28 unplanned minis this month, but I was so inspired by the Uluru campaign of Dr.TheViking that I went right to the hobby store to buy a bunch of Wargames Atlantic spider miniatures. Despite the awkwardness of assembling the large spiders, they all had very painter-friendly details, and look excellent when finished. Now to finish some more thematic terrain.
